Some days, I regret that I'm not as adventurous, or as excited about some things as I was when a kid. Today, however, is not one of those days. I've been sick this week, and I ended up taking work off today. I'm feeling better, but I needed an extra day of rest, and I knew I couldn't handle eight hours on my feet. So, today has been devoted to doing little menial tasks, like laundry and freezing peppers, but I'm not regulated by a to-do list, as is so often the case. I get to do things as I see them needing done, and most importantly, I get to read Little Women, watch movies, and enjoy stolen hours—all in the name of getting over being sick, of course.
I really hate being sick, and I tend to be a bad sick person (read: you're not going to get me to go to bed or have me ask you to do anything), but sometimes a chance to slow down is a good thing. Today was unanticipated, and it's been wonderfully restful and even a bit productive—without being overwhelming. Even the most dreaded tasks, such as laundry, weren't nearly as bad today (and may actually have been kind of enjoyable...) because I knew it didn't matter how long it took me to do them. Instead, what mattered was space, slowness, and savoring life.
And spending beautiful fall days outside folding laundry really isn't that terrible :).

I'm sorry you were sick, but glad I've found your blog! I'm not sure whether it has actually been fixed or if it's just the different computer I'm on. But I love the Hill of Crosses picture. That and the Absurdities outdoor museum were my favorite parts of Lithuania. Take care dear!
I'm catching up on your blog now! this sounds like a wonderful day... I'm glad that you're not sick anymore, but sometimes we definitely do need these times to slow down and rest, like we were talking about tonight :) I'm glad you got to do that!
